Lexan ® Polycarbonate Cleaning Instructions

When Lexan sheet is first installed, glazing compound and masking paper adhesive can be easily removed by applying naphtha (VM &P) or kerosene with a soft cloth, followed immediately with a thorough soap and water cleaning. DO NOT USE GASOLINE. Adherence to regular and proper cleaning procedures is recommended to preserve appearance.

Washing to minimize Scratching

Wash Lexan Sheet with a mild soap or detergent (e.g., Joy** dishwashing liquid) and lukewarm water using a clean sponge or a soft cloth. Rinse well with clean water. Dry thoroughly with a chamois or moist cellulose sponge to prevent water spots. Do not scrub or use brushes on these products: their coating is UV-resistant, not mar-resistant.

Fresh paint splashes, grease, and smeared glazing compounds can be removed easily before drying by rubbing lightly with a grade of VM&P Naphtha or isopropyl. Afterward, a warm final wash should be made, using a mild soap or detergent solution and ending with a thorough rinsing with clean water.

Minimizing Hairline Scratches

Scratches and minor abrasions can be minimized by using a mild automobile polish. Four such products that tend to polish and fill scratches are Johnson Paste Wax, Novus Plastic Polish #1 and #2 (Novus Inc., Minneapolis, MN), Mirror Glaze plastic polish(m.G.M10 – Mirror bright Polish Co., Pasadena, CA), and Plexus*  (B.T.I. Chemical, Aguora, CA). It is suggested that a test be made on a sample of Lexan sheet with the product selected and that the polish manufacturer’s instructions be followed.

Some Important “Don’ts”

–           DO NOT use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners on Lexan sheet products.

–           Never scrape Lexan sheet products with squeegees, razor blades or other sharp instruments.

–           Benzene, gasoline, acetone, or carbon tetrachloride should never be used on Lexan sheet products.

–           DO NOT clean Lexan sheet products in hot sun or at elevated temperatures.

Compatible Cleaners for Lexan Sheet Products

The following cleaning agents have been found compatible with Lexan sheet. The manufacturer’s recommendations and instructions should be followed.

– Joy**

– Freon T.F.

– Palmolive liquid***

– Top Job**

– VM&P grade Naphtha

– Windex with Ammonia D****

Lexan MR10 Sheet Cleaning Instructions

Because this material is highly mar- and UV-resistant coating, avoid the use of abrasive cleaners and/or cleaning implements that may mar or gouge the coating.

Graffiti Removable for Lexan MR10 Sheet

–           Butyl Cellosolve works well for removal of paints, marking pen inks, lipstick, etc.

–           Masking tape, adhesive tape, or lint removal tools work well for lifting off old weathered paints.

–           To remove label stickers, etc. The use of kerosene or VM&P Naphtha is generally effective. When the solvent will not penetrate sticker

material apply heat (hair dryer) to soften the adhesive and promote removal. GASOLINE SHOULD NEVER BE USED.

New Construction and renovations frequently require that the glazing and surrounding sash and wall finish be cleaned of any excess mortar, paint, sealant, primers, or other construction compounds. Only recommended cleaners should be used to clean Lexan Sheet.

Contact with harsh solvents such as methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or muriatic acid can result in surface degradation and possible crazing of Lexan sheet.

It’s been a long time coming! The “all new” Frozen Bait Box Dual Zone and all Frozen coming off the line now.

I just returned home from our factory in Des Moines on Wednesday, it was great to see our machines coming off the production line. Our client Bait N Go in Australia machines came down the line first and our domestic machines were next. My hats off to everyone at Wittern’s factory. It was great to see the degree of care that was taken in the building of our machines, from the management to all the workers on the line. Great job by everyone involved in this project.

How to get started keeping minnows at a low cost.

In many regions minnows are a very important bait for fisherman. Many bait machine owners sell minnows in their machines. And make good money doing so. To do so you must have some kind of  holding tank to keep your minnows. New minnow tanks are very costly but I have been telling people for years they can start out by building their own holding tank at a very low cost. You need several things to keep healthy minnows, cool water, aeration are the most important. You will also need to keep your ammonia level in check. I have helped many customers over the year do this by getting a chest freezer to start. The inside of the freezer needs to be seamless inside or you will need to seal any seams so the water won’t leak. You will also need a electric timer so you can set the temperature otherwise you would have a big block of ice. You have the timer set so the freezer turns on and off keeping the water from freezing. Some freezers I see have a drain hole at the bottom, you would want to set that up with a shut of valve so you can drain down to replace water. If there is no drain and you have to siphon out the water, always remember to put the hose at the bottom, all the bad water lays in the bottom of the tank. Last you can keep the ammonia in check by keeping a pound or so of zeolite in the bottom of the tank. This can be put in a nylon sack tied off or cut off the bottom of a pair of panty hose and tie off which works great too. This will need to be replaced about once a month, a little sooner if you hold a big amount of fish. Don’t throw away the zeolite as this can be reused after recharging. To recharge simply wash thoroughly then soak in saltwater for 24 hours, then rinse and your good to go. You can purchase zeolite by calling Matt Kurtz at Kurtz Fish Hatchery at 484-364-6044. This is the same stuff that keeps the minnows alive in the cups in the Sportsman.

Check out these two videos I found on YouTube, these will give you a idea on how to do this. Also if you wish to buy a reasoable priced minnow tank here is a good place to start.

Spring Sportsman Sale Promo – $500.00 discount!

If you are thinking about purchasing a Sportsman, now’s the time to place your order. For a limited time we are discounting our Sportsman from $6,995.00 down to $6,495.00, that’s a saving of $500.00.  The Sportsman is without question the very best  vendor on the market today for vending live bait and tackle along with other outdoor supplies. It’s also the only vendor of it’s kind that’s engineered from the ground up for use in the outdoor market. Don’t be fooled by others offering indoor machines that are converted by adding  a few rain guards and anti vandal panels.  Also don’t be fooled by a low ball price and then be charged with a bunch of options, we include everything you’ll need with our Sportsmen.

Please do your research and you be the judge.  You’ll see the Sportsman and Big Rock Sports has the most to offer.  We have been at Live Bait Vending since 1997. We work closely with our manufacturers to ensure the best and most up to date products available on the market today.

How’s this for service

How’s this for service

One of our customers in Pennsylvania (Kurtz’s Live Bait Vending) called the first thing on this past Friday morning letting me know that they had just secured two new high end locations. He wanted two Sportsman as fast as we could get them to him, for trout season starts in PA the following Saturday. Well the order was placed on Friday, his machines shipped on Monday and the delivery appointment is set up with the carrier for Wednesday. From the factory in Iowa to the customer in PA delivered in 4 business days. Let’s see the competition top that.

Our solid partnership with the manufacturer enables us to not only deliver the best vendor on the market today for vending live bait and outdoor sports supplies in a year round outdoor environment, but also deliver the machines to our clients as quickly as possible.

In this business where every day counts during the fishing season, waiting several weeks for a machine to arrive isn’t going to put profits in the bank.

Great customer service is paramount to our company and to me personally and always has been since I started this in 1997.  Gary Harsel

a partnership that works!

Fastcorp & PA Live Bait Vending issue new press release

Fastcorp & PA Live Bait Vending Offer the “Coastal” Frozen Bait Machine

PA Live Bait Vending Forms Exclusive Partnership to Leverage Fastcorp Evolution Technology

Danbury, CT (January 7, 2011) – Fastcorp LLC has entered an exclusive partnership with PA Live Bait Vending to sell and distribute its line of “Coastal – 24 Hour Bait Shop” frozen vendors.  PA Live Bait Vending is the leading supplier of refrigerated bait vending machines across the US and abroad.  According to Gary Harsel, owner of PA Live Bait Vending, “the Coastal is a perfect compliment to the refrigerated bait vendor product line. The Coastal provides a convenient solution for saltwater fishing since the type of bait used requires a stable frozen environment. The Coastal was designed to appeal to stores like sporting goods shops, marinas, C-stores, gas stations and anywhere frozen bait can be sold.  Stores carrying bait can maximize sales even when closed by taking advantage of outdoor placements and 24-hr accessibility.”

“Everyone at Fastcorp is excited about the partnership”, says Al Roque, Fastcorp Director of Marketing.  “Gary understands the sport fishing segment and has years of experience on both the equipment side and the sport fishing side.  He is committed to growing the business channel and provides a number of unique, very personalized turn-key services not found anywhere else.  This expertise and individualized attention translates into a wonderful customer experience and loyal customer base. Again, this is just another example of how a specific need, visionary thinking, and Fastcorp’s ultra-versatile robotic vending technology can come together to offer creative solutions to a marketplace.”

“In the end, there is no mystery as to why Gary chose our technology for his frozen offering,” states Mr. Roque. “The Evolution model vendors have proven to be simple to operate, reliable, and up to 7 times more energy efficient than comparable vendors saving hundreds per year in energy bills.”  According to Mr Roque, “this track record of performance and versatility has caught the attention of a number of companies within and outside the vending industry, looking to apply Fastcorp’s unique technology to specific applications.  The Coastal bait vendor launch helps round off the single-brew coffee vendor offering slated to roll out early 2011 as one of the many ways Fastcorp is diversifying outside of frozen food and ice cream vending.”
